Health & Safety Consultants

H&S Audits

UK Health & Safety legislation is both complex and extensive. Sometimes it is important to take stock of where you are from a compliance viewpoint, and reflect on the processes in place within your business.

At Lighthouse, we are proficient in conducting Health & Safety audits of a variety of different businesses to do just this.

Our competent Health and Safety consultants will visit your premises or operational sites in order to apply their knowledge of the relevant legislation and to advise on any actions you may need to take to address exposures.

Not all articles of legislation will be relevant to your operations, the requirements for an office environment for example, are extremely different to those of a manufacturing business. It is therefore important that you can draw on the competency of a Health and Safety professional in order to understand your obligations.

Our Health and Safety consultants have experience across a number of industry sectors including:

  • Manufacture
  • Warehousing
  • Engineering
  • Food Production
  • Construction and Installation
  • Leisure
  • Healthcare
  • Overnight Sleeping Accommodation
  • Offices
  • Retail

Each audit that Lighthouse undertake is specific to your business, we do not use standardised industry templates. By taking this approach, you can be assured that your business is being audited on its own merits, taking into account the intricacies and specifics of your operations.

Your Health and Safety audit report will be issued to you following the conclusion of the visit from our Health and Safety consultant.

The document will be easy to read, containing narrative on findings, supporting media, reference to relevant legislation, and perhaps most importantly, a prioritised action plan covering:

  1. Red Actions – actions that are required urgently as a major non-compliance has been identified
  2. Amber Actions – actions that should be addressed in the short to medium term which could become red actions if not implemented
  3. Green Actions – actions which are recommended as best practise, or could add value to your management systems for things like civil liability exposure reduction

This Gap Analysis approach will allow you to quickly identify any areas of weakness or threat, providing you with the necessary information to act quickly and minimise risk.

Multi-Site Business Health & Safety Audits

In addition to providing Health and Safety audits for single site operations, we can produce standardised audit reports across multi-site operations to provide site specific information and actions, whilst also delivering compliance data which can be presented to regional or national managers, or at board level.

This process can be applied to any industry, and we would take the time to develop a bespoke audit itinerary, dependent on the legislation and inherent risks associated with your business.

For more information on how this application works in practise, please read our Multi Location case study.

After-Audit Health & Safety Consultancy Support

As Health and Safety consultants, Lighthouse can then support you with implementing any recommended action points.

Please visit the Competent Person Support section of our website to discover how.

Appoint Lighthouse As Your Health & Safety Competent Person

The competent person role does not have to be fulfilled internally within every company. You can, therefore, outsource the appointment to a contractor or consultancy with the necessary qualifications and experience.
